Our Parsha begins with Ya'akov fleeing Beer Sheva, to escape Esav's anger. While traveling to Charan, he stopped overnight at Mt. Moriah, the future site of the Beis HaMikdash. That night, he dreamt of a ladder stretching toward heaven, with angels ascending and descending.
G‑d then appeared to Ya'akov and promised him that He would give the land on which he slept to his children and guard him until he returned to Canaan. The following day, Ya'akov woke, recognized this mountain's holiness, and named it Beis E-l—"the House of G‑d."
We find out how Ya'akov met Rachel.
We learn Ya'akov's connection to truth and the path to educating others of the truth.
